Dutch photographer Ari Marcopoulos moved to New York in 1979, where he quickly infiltrated the art scene there. What better way to make yourself known than to print Andy Warhol's black and white photographs? Maybe becoming American photographer Irvinn Penn's assistant helped.. Since then Marcopoulos has focused much of his work on photographing skateboarders. Helping Larry Clark film the skateboarding community in Kids in 1995 was pivotal in developing his photographic style and connecting his work to Larry Clark.
